"Scandals used to lend charm, or at least interest, to a man -
now they crush him."

Sir Robert Chiltern is a successful government minister, with an ideal marriage to Lady Chiltern. His world is threatened when Mrs Cheveley appears with a letter revealing a past misdeed, forcing Sir Robert to choose between public scandal and losing the love of his wife. He turns to his friend, Lord Goring, for help. Will Lord Goring be able to save Sir Robert's reputation, career and marriage?
