The
Hampstead Players 2019 Summer Production “Blood will have blood.” Our summer production will be Macbeth, directed by Richard Ward and Matthew Williams. “My hands are of your colour; but I shame to wear a heart so white.” A traumatic war. A powerful couple. Vaulting ambition. Macbeth. A gripping portrait of the impact of war, violence and murder on the human psyche. Violence breeds violence. Minds, relationships and lives twist, buckle and break. “We are yet but young in deed”… Auditions will take place: For the Church: enter by the door up the steps on the South side (ring the bell if door locked). You do not need to be a member to audition but you must join the society if you accept a part. If you can’t make these dates, but would like to audition, please contact us ([email protected] or [email protected]) and we can arrange an alternative time. We are of the view that many of the characters can be played as either male or female, and playing ages are often flexible. The major roles, with approximate playing ages are:
There are also two parts for children, Fleance and Macduff’s Child, which could be doubled. Please contact us if you know anyone who would be interested. There are a number of other smaller parts from named lords (Menteith, Caithness, Siward, Young Siward, Seyton) to unnamed characters (Sergeant, Old Man, Doctor…). With suitable cuts and doubling, we anticipate casting approximately 15 people, with a fairly even split between men and women. Audition pieces are available at this link Performances will be on the evenings of 4th, 5th and 6th July with a matinee on the Saturday afternoon. Rehearsals will start around the 4th April and will usually be every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evening - although no one will be called to every rehearsal. |
